Our model
The thread between what's already here.
Until we have our own houses and businesses, we act as the coordinating entity: the one place houses, employers, churches, and providers can find each other, agree on standards, and work toward the same goal.
What coordinating means
- Find and welcome partnersSober living houses, employers open to hiring people in recovery, churches, clinical providers, and professionals who want to help.
- Set shared standardsWritten expectations for houses (safety, accountability, fair housing, certification), employers (fair pay, safe work, flexibility for recovery), and everyone (transparency, dignity).
- Make introductionsConnect partners with each other so a house and an employer, or a church and a provider, can work together directly.
- Support and learnShare what works, gather feedback, and improve the standards over time.
- Grow our ownAs funding allows, add TGT-owned businesses and a TGT house that follow the same standards and show what is possible.
The program we are building
Our own program will run about twelve months in four stages. It is our current plan and may change as we learn.
Foundation
Stability, routine, and the first steps of recovery, with work alongside others.
Build
Learning a trade on the job and building skills, savings, and character.
Lead
Taking responsibility, training a successor, and guiding newer residents.
Launch
Moving on to stable housing and work, or into management with TGT.
Live
Certified sober housing with house standards and a household that eats together.
Work
Paid, W-2 jobs in businesses TGT owns, at least minimum wage.
Worship
Prayer and worship rooted in the Twelve Steps and Celebrate Recovery. Faith is offered, never forced.
Recover
Peer and family support, with licensed providers for clinical care.
How we are structured
The Gathering Table, Inc. is planned as a nonprofit that runs housing, the recovery program, worship, family support, and the partner network. Our businesses sit in a separate for-profit company that the nonprofit controls, with one company for each trade, so that investment can go to the businesses and gifts go to the nonprofit. Founder Zach Hileman and permanent staff will keep final say over money and major decisions, shared with an independent board.
This structure is our current plan and is being confirmed with attorneys.
